Ingredients

  • 250 g sushi-grade salmon diced
  • 1 cup cooked sushi rice
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • ½ cucumber diced
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Optional: chili flakes mango, seaweed salad

Instructions

1. Prepare the Rice

  • Start here. Always. Cook your rice until tender, then let it cool slightly — warm rice welcomes flavor, but steaming-hot rice will overpower the delicate salmon poke recipe.

2. Cut the Salmon

  • Slice your fresh salmon into even cubes — not too big, not too tiny. A sharp knife makes all the difference, giving you clean edges instead of ragged pieces.

3. Mix the Marinade

  • In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Stir gently — you’re building a base that enhances, not masks, the fish.

4. Combine Salmon and Sauce

  • Add the salmon cubes into the marinade and toss lightly — no heavy mixing. Let it sit briefly, about 5–10 minutes,

5. Assemble the Bowl

  • Start with rice, then place the marinated salmon on top. Add avocado, cucumber, and green onions — each layer adds contrast

6. Final Touch

  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and, if you like, a pinch of chili flakes. A final drizzle of sesame oil seals the deal
