  • Crab meat
  • Onion
  • Celery
  • Garlic
  • Seafood stock or chicken broth
  • Butter
  • Eggs
  • Fresh parsley
  • Old Bay seasoning

Instructions
 

1. Prepare the Cornbread Base

  • Start simple. Really simple. Crumble the cornbread into a large mixing bowl. Don’t overthink it — uneven pieces actually make better texture later.

2. Sauté the Aromatics

  • Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions and chopped celery first, letting them soften slowly. Stir occasionally. After about three minutes, toss in the minced garlic.

3. Cook the Seafood

  • Add the chopped shrimp to the warm skillet and cook for about two minutes. Just until they turn pink. That’s enough. Overcooking makes seafood rubbery, and nobody wants that.
    Fold in the crab meat gently afterward.

4. Mix the Dressing

  • Pour the sautéed mixture and seafood into the bowl of crumbled cornbread. Stir slowly. Add broth little by little while folding the mixture gently so the cornbread keeps its structure.
    Next, beat the eggs and add them along with parsley and seasoning.

5. Bake the Dressing

  • Transfer the mixture into a buttered baking dish and spread it evenly. Slide the dish into a 375°F (190°C) oven and bake for about 40–45 minutes.
