Ingredients

  • Ground beef – 2 pounds
  • Breadcrumbs – 1 cup
  • Eggs – 2 large
  • Parmesan cheese – ½ cup grated
  • Fresh parsley & basil
  • Garlic cloves –
  • Onion – 1 medium finely diced.
  • Tomato sauce – 2 cups
  • Salt & black pepper – to taste.
  • Olive oil

Instructions

Step 1: Prep Your Flavors

  • Chop onion, garlic, and fresh herbs. Sauté lightly until softened. This small move changes everything.

Step 2: Mix the Base

  • Combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, eggs, Parmesan, and herbs. Don’t overmix (it’ll get tough).

Step 3: Shape the Loaf

  • Form into a loaf shape on your baking sheet. Frankly, I prefer freeform over a pan—it cooks more evenly.

Step 4: Sauce It Up

  • Spread tomato sauce across the top. Want extra depth? Mix in a spoon of red wine.

Step 5: Bake & Rest

  • Bake at 375°F until the center reaches 160°F. Rest 10 minutes before slicing (don’t skip—juices matter).
