Ingredients

  • Ground beef 80/20 preferred
  • Bacon thick-cut
  • Pasta elbow macaroni or shells
  • Sharp cheddar cheese
  • Cream or whole milk
  • Onion & garlic
  • Ketchup & mustard
  • Salt cracked pepper, smoked paprika

Instructions

Step 1: Brown the Beef and Bacon

  • Start by cooking the bacon until deeply crisp. Remove it, then use that flavorful fat to sauté onions and garlic before adding the beef. Season early and confidently.

Step 2: Cook the Pasta

  • Boil the pasta in generously salted water. Pull it just before fully tender. It should still have a bite. Overcooked pasta turns mushy in the oven

Step 3: Build the Sauce

  • Lower the heat. Stir in ketchup, mustard, cream, and spices. It sounds too good to be true, right

Step 4: Combine Everything

  • Fold the pasta, crumbled bacon, and half the cheese into the sauce. Go gently. You’re not stirring cement. Everything should be coated, not crushed.

Step 5: Bake to Perfection

  • Transfer to a baking dish, scatter the remaining cheese on top, and bake until bubbling and bronzed. Let it rest briefly. Patience sharpens flavor.
